Ask for proof of the debt — Dutch letter template

Use this if you don’t recognise the debt or the amount. Ask for proof before you pay, and keep a copy of your letter.

What the letter says

You asked me to pay [amount]. I don’t recognise this claim. Please send me within 14 days: the name of the original creditor, copies of the original bills, and how the amount is made up (debt, interest and costs). Please stop collecting until I have this.

Ik verzoek u de incasso op te schorten totdat ik deze gegevens heb ontvangen.
