Official letters from Poland, explained in English

Polish offices send important letters by registered post, or online through ePUAP and e-Doręczenia, and most deadlines start on the day you receive them. If you’re out, the post leaves a notice (awizo) — collect the letter quickly, because it usually counts as delivered after 14 days even if you don’t.

Questions

How long do I have to answer an official letter in Poland?

It depends on the letter. Look for words like “termin”, “do dnia”, “od dnia doręczenia” — they mark the deadline. In Poland, most deadlines start on the day you receive the letter (doręczenie). If you weren’t home, the post leaves a notice (awizo), and a letter you don’t collect usually counts as delivered 14 days after the first notice. The 3 days are only an estimate, so check the date you signed for it. To object, the letter usually names the way to do it (“odwołanie”, “zażalenie”, “sprzeciw”, “skarga”, “reklamacja”).

Can I understand a Polish letter without speaking Polish?

Yes. Take a photo of the letter with Briefly. It reads the Polish text on your device, explains it in plain English, finds deadlines and amounts, and can translate the whole letter.

Is my letter uploaded anywhere?

No. Briefly runs completely in your browser. The letter never leaves your device, there is no account, and it works offline after the first visit.
