- Object to the decision (Beschwerde) — Use this if you think the decision is wrong. Send it to the office that made the decision before the deadline, signed, and keep a copy. Write your reasons and what you want in the letter — a Beschwerde needs them.
- Ask for more time (Fristerstreckung) — Use this if you can’t make the deadline. Send it before the deadline ends.
- Ask to pay in parts (Ratenzahlung) — Use this if you can’t pay the full amount at once. Offer an amount you can really pay every month.
- Ask for a new appointment — Use this if you can’t come. Send it before the appointment and add proof if you can (for example a doctor’s note).
- Ask to pause the payment while you object (Aussetzung der Einhebung) — Use this together with your objection (Beschwerde) if you don’t want to pay the disputed tax yet. Only ask for the part you disagree with. If you lose, you may have to pay interest.
- Ask for more time to object (Verlängerung der Beschwerdefrist) — Use this if you need more time to prepare your objection (Beschwerde) to a tax decision. Send it before the one-month deadline ends and give a reason.
